Try this.
The next time someone is “of service” to you. You know. A flight attendant, a waiter or waitress. Or a check out gal at the food store. While they’re taking care of you, simply say,
“You know? You’re really getting good at this!”
I’ve been doing this for years. Why? Well, every time I’ve done so, I’ve gotten a glow, a smile, or even an outburst of laughter. Just a little appreciation for their courtesy. Goes such a long way. Because these hard workers rarely hear stuff like this.
I’m on a flight right now. A somber looking flight attendant’s pushing a drink cart down the aisle. I share the comment.
“You know? You’re really getting good at this!”
She laughs like hell! Puts her hand on my shoulder and moves on with a wide smile as she greets other passengers …
Oh, and I didn’t mention. Every time I share the comment? I’m never forgotten. Usually get special treatment. Some of my friends and I have committed ourselves since COVID to “over tip.” Trying to help our friendly providers with a just little extra cash. A good thing.
My bet though is, that if you start offering this phrase? You’ll get that wide smile. Leave the extra money too. I always do.
But then watch. You’ll first be thanked for the nice comment. Then maybe afterward … for the money too.

Nice suggestion in a society too much divided by political beliefs.
Hey Bob,
Ya know? You are good at this!
