See this guy? That’s what I’m doing right now … celebrating!
I don’t think I’ve ever felt more proud in my life than I’ve felt this morning, these past two days. On Wednesday evening Nance and I got a call from our granddaughter, Payson.
“I got the part!! I got the part! And it’s the part I wanted!” I am just so happy.”
Nothing gives one more joy than when your grandchild is joyous. Payson is a star. She’s an actor. Every play she’s been in? She shines, stands out on stage. She’s a natural. She’d taken some lesser parts in the past. Even quit acting for awhile. But she’s so determined. Straight “As”…. You get it. Payson? I can’t wait to see who she becomes.
She’ll have a major part in “Godspell” and sing the classic song, “Day by Day” Remember it? We’ll be there!
As if this weren’t enough. My two grandsons. Two of my triplet grandsons. (the third has autism) each called!
Ralfie first … “PopPop I got into URI!!” Then Jack … “PopPop I got into URI too!”
Scholarship monies for both! OMG … no, thank God. All their hard work, love of family … dedication. Determination. All had paid off. Ralfie and Jack are going to the University of Rhode Island!
Two of the finest young men one can know are going to college. And how lucky that school will be to have them. Each so alike and at the same time so wonderfully different.
Wow! Tears as I write this. Such beautiful children. Growing, learning to love. Love themselves. I remember defining moments that helped shape me. Love me a little more. Hear God answer the question, “why I am here.” Moments like these experienced this week by Payson, Ralfie and Jack? They will never forget these days. The day God said to them. “I have a plan for your life. I am with you always.”
I have to stop writing for a moment and take this all in. Fully feel the happiness running through me knowing how a little “boost” in a grandchild’s confidence can mean so much.
Jack and Payson and Ralfie. I’m closing my eyes. You are all here. I’m picturing your beaming faces. Thanking God for this day, this moment.
Just can’t wait to celebrate more this morning. Talk to your moms and dads. Tell all my friends.
I know grandparents reading this have their own “most proud” moments too. You can absolutely relate to what I’m talking about here!
“I have the most wonderful grandchildren. Guess what happened with them this week?”
There will be other great moments in their lives they will experience … give me. But right now. At this moment? They will have to go a long way to beat these.
